The Nouveau Classical Project is a contemporary classical music ensemble that is "bringing a refreshing edge to the widely conservative genre" (VICE). We take a multidisciplinary approach to the concert experience to fulfill our mission of engaging new audiences. We started by working with fashion designers to create music-inspired looks for musicians, and now we collaborate with a variety of artists on concerts.
Join us in honoring composer Paola Prestini and fashion designer Titania Inglis with the NCP Visionary Award. This award recognizes innovative leaders whose work has made a significant impact in their fields. The evening will feature NCP playing music by living composers, fine food and drink, silent auction, and the presentation of the NCP Visionary Award.
We just wrapped up an amazing season, where we collaborated with artist Anne Patterson and composer Paul Haas, toured for our first time and recorded our first album, Potential Energies, which is being released on Philip Glass’s record label, Orange Mountain Music. For our 2016-17 season, we're doing more: we'll collaborate on a new piece with composer Gabrielle Herbst, starting with our residency at Avaloch Farm; we're going to the University of Maryland to perform our Sacred-Profane program and engage with the students through workshops and composer readings; and we'll commission and premiere new works by composers Olga Bell, David Bird, and Isaac Schankler.
